16 BOOKS INTO MOVIES FOR 2014

1.30.2014

This year there will be 16 films made that are based on books.  Arielle Calderon from BuzzFeed posted this article about all of the movies coming out this year that are based on books. I love reading and I love watching movies so I thought it would be fun to read the books on the list and then go see the movie. Click on the link above and check out the whole list. I am just going to list the first four that are coming out this year for now.

So, the first book on the list is Labor Day by Joyce Maynard.  The movie comes out today!! I have not gotten this book yet, so this might be one that I watch the movie first and then read the book.  That might be better anyway, I tend to be pretty critical of the movies after I have read the books.

The next book is The Monuments Men by Robert M Edsel and Brett Witter.  This movie comes out Feb. 7th.  I am looking forward toThe Monuments Men with George Clooney and Matt Damon.  They were both in the Ocean's movies which are mine and my husband's favorite movies.

The Third book is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.   I may actually skip this book.... I think I am done with vampire books and movies, I got my fill with the Twilight series, but it comes out on Feb. 7th. If  you have read the book please let me know if you think I should change my mind and if it is worth reading.

Book number four is Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin.  Colin Farrell is in this movie that comes out on Valentine's Day.

I think I will work on these four three and then move on to the next few. Once I have read and watched the movie, I will post my thoughts and feelings on it! I hope you will join me and share your thoughts with me!

BABY YOU'RE A FIREWORK

Sometimes we all just need a little inspiration. What inspires you? What makes you want to be better? Last night on the bachelor, (NOT A SPOILER ALERT) Juan Pablo mentioned to some of the girls, he wasn't going to kiss them because he wanted to be a good example to his daughter. If you didn't already love J.P. (not to be confused with Ashley's, JP) how can you not love him now? Anyways, his daughter inspires him to be better! What is that one thing for you?

I love my children very much, but sometimes they take the life and soul right out of me. And when that happens I have a couple things I go to to pick me back up and get me right on going; quotes from good ole' Dr. Seuss, and music!

OH, The Places You'll Go! I basically have this book memorized, I have read it so many times with Chad. (He LOVES the hacken-cracks) Anyways, here is what I love about this book!

File:Oh, the Places You'll Go.jpg

*You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. Your on your own and you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go!

* I'm sorry to say so but, sadly, it's true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.

*So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact. And remember life's a great balancing act. And will you succeed? YES! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains!

Oh how these quotes make me so happy! This book makes me feel so capable to do anything! Even if bang-ups and hang-ups happen to me, I'll most likely succeed!

My next inspiration is music. Lindsay and I were talking the other day and we started talking about, "our" songs. You know, that song that every time you hear, the universe is playing solely for you. I have many of those songs, but one in particular is Firework by Katy Perry. I liked this song when I first heard it, but when I watched this video, I loved this song so much more!

After watching this video I really listened to the lyrics. Seeing Katy Perry and this sweet girl sing this song together really inspired this song to be so much better! I love it!

Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

Cause, baby, you're a firework
Come one, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, Aah, aah, aah
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, Aah, aah, aah,
You're gone leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

I love my kids! And every day I try harder and harder so that I can be a good example for them. So that they will have a good role model to look to in this world full of Miley Cyrus' and Justin Bieber's. But along the way I do have hang-ups, so I try to surround myself with little things that are guaranteed to make life a little better!

What are some of your inspirations? What are your favorite Dr. Seuss quotes/books? What are your favorite songs?

Take me back...

1.28.2014

As I sit here in my cold chair, my soul and heart aches for a trip. I was looking through my computer and found these pictures of one of the best adventures I will probably ever have. I went on a study abroad to Mexico and Belize. I wish someone could take me back to those dirt filled streets. And tastes of real authentic foods and spices. So if it's cold where you're at, enjoy these pictures to hopefully warm you up!
A LDS temple in Mexico City, one of the whitest thing's I saw.

My first taste of authentic Mexican food.

Mexico City.

That Cathedral was built on ancient Mayan Ruins. Our Hostel was right behind the Cathedal.

I'm obsessed with all the color.

Boat Ride on the Sumidero Canyon.

We got to eat dinner at an LDS families house and the little girl pulled out this sweet kitty from a cabinet! A very humbling experience.

This lady made me take a picture with her and then made me pay her for it. At least it could help those sweet kids.

The group.

Another LDS temple in Mexico.

These are my naked shorts. Nobody could tell if I was ever wearing shorts. Sadly the ripped a couple times on the trip.

Chichen-itza! My grandparents went here a long time ago and then I got to go!

Oh this was heaven. Let the beachy warmth begin!

Another LDS temple in Mexico!

Boat trip in Belize.

So scared out of my mind. I hate reptiles

Glad that wasn't me.

I hope you enjoyed a little bit of these pictures! Share with us some of your favorite trips you've been on!
