CARPE DIEM

2.10.2014

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

I have really been loving music lately. These lyrics are from Trace Adkins song, You're Gonna Miss This. I recently made Chad's (my 2 year-old) "scrapbook" from 2013. As I made it I couldn't believe how fast my life is going by, and yes I know I'm only 24, but I've had my drivers license for almost 9 years, I've been graduated from high school for 7 years, married for 4 years, graduated from college for 2 years, and have 2 kids. WOW! When did this all happen? When did I become old enough to be an adult and make adult decisions?

I graduated high school!

I read a blog post one time about a mother choosing not to Carpe Diem (seize the day). At the time I really liked it! The post was about how sometimes life is hard, and how the author wasn't going to enjoy every moment of everyday because sometimes life is just too hard. And I do agree with that, sometimes the world is driving you up the wall and for that moment you want to be on a secluded beach with no worries in the world, BUT I have to argue that I want to seize everyday! I want to laugh at my kids when they color all over my laptop. I want to enjoy every moment I have because I'm not getting any younger. (Someone recently told me I wasn't 21 anymore, which was news to me!)

When I was younger, which felt like yesterday, I could not wait to drive, graduate high school and college, get married and have a family of my own. I have it all now, and I am so grateful for it! I am going to Carpe Diem! I am going to be frustrated less and laugh more, because I may not know it now, but I AM going to miss this!

I'll take every opportunity to wear a tiara!

I got a hit in the face playing ultimate frisbee! I was so proud of my black eye!

I totally ruined poor Adams hair when he let me experiment my first haircut ever!

My roommates were highlighting my hair.

I haven't always seized the day, but since having my 2 children I now see how fast time flies. I want to enjoy as many moments as I can before the moment is over!

What do you do to change bad experiences into seizing the day moments?
